something old & and something new June 4, 2006

I started this blog at about the same time that I started getting my garden in shape for the year. Now, for the most part, the work is done, and the plants are in. That is not saying I won’t find a few more nice plants to add, just that it is mostly done, and I can get back to sewing and quilting.
Currently, I am working on the quilt in the hoop. It is basically an eight-pointed star pattern, done in a batik of blues, greens ,and a creamy tan. The background is all white, all the better for showing the stitching. The white squares when done, will also have the eight-pointed star patterned worked into them.
Guess you can say, most of my quilts are done in traditional patterns, using mostly traditional fabrics. I love the old patterns, and want to do as many of them as I can. But, I want to branch out, work with colors more, and try different things.
I love all things natural, flowers, trees, plants of all kinds. My goal is to incorporate into my quilting, some of what I see and photograph in nature.
