My friend and I saw a stunning sight yesterday. We passed a hay pasture filled with hundreds of blue flags growing along a stream running from the woods toward the road.
Buttercups and something slightly orange accented the blue nicely. We turned around, and since I always carry my little Nikon, I was able to get this shot.

This photo actually does not do the scene justice. We were getting a light mist, and the general feel of the landscape was dark and gray. I can just imagine the scene with a bright blue sky, and clear air. As you can see by the size of the trees, the hayfield is quite large. I have noticed flags there before, but never a river of blue running out of the woods.

While I was working out in the garden this morning, doing a little clean up work. I noticed that I had a small patch of blue flag, right behind my garden. Must be all this rain, bringing out all the wetland plants. The smaller shot was taken in that patch.

Note:
While reading up on flags, I noticed that blue-eyed grass is actually just a tiny wild iris. I saw some last week, and now I wish I had looked closer at it.
