My page today is about colorful butterfies and moths. A few days ago, Mersey, of Edge Effect posted a pastel pink and yellow moth photo. This morning, I spotted one on my neighbor’s porch. It is a pretty thing, Mersey, you are right This is my first Rosy Maple Moth.

Then, later my friend, Carolyn, who was just back from her other house in Rangeley, Maine, told me another interesting butterfly story. Seems, that they were traveling toward Rangeley, going over the Height of Land when she noticed that the sky was full of butterflies. She told me that they were black and yellow, so I assume what they saw was a migration of monarchs. Wish I had been there, I would of been more impressed than her husband was. Here is a shot I took last summer, of Lake Mooselookmeguntic, from the overlook. It is a beautiful place, high in the mountains of western Maine. She didn’t stop for photos, as it can be a tricky place to drive.

I must admit to envy as you & Meresy have both seen the beautiful “candy” colored moth! Pink & yellow–a great color combination. What a dream to see the sky full of butterflies. I have to continue to dream on with that desire, as I have not yet seen a migration of butterflies. It must be remarkable. Love the name of the Lake–”Mooselookmeguntic”! Beautiful scene.
