I was out in the garden yesterday afternoon getting a shot of my pokey bee balm, which isn’t doing well this year, and finally blooming. When I turned a bit to the left, this moth was feeding on the dephinium. Of course I took some shots of it! It was hovering all the while, as you can see by the wings.

We have cedar waxwings everywhere this summer. I usually see a few, but for the first time, they are nesting within sight of my living room window. They are out on their “porch” limb every night. I think that I have figured out why. Look at the chokecherry trees this year. They are loaded! My little camera works well on close ups, but I won’t even show you my efforts at catching a shot of the birds in the tree.
I was reading up on waxwings this morning, and did you know that they not only pass berries back and forth, but also flowers? I would love to see that.

I ran across this plant last week, and can’t seem to find a name for it. It is about two feet tall, and the flowers look like colored leaves. As you can see, most of the flowers were pink, but a few purples were in the mix.
