The little one with the beautiful eyes is my sister’s granddaughter. My dad also had those eyes.

blueberries

This shot was taken out behind my garden. The blueberries are almost done, but yesterday, I noticed we have more blackberries moving in. Also the raspberries are spreading this way. All of these ground plants are great for the birds, and I do see lots of them in and out of the various berry patches all day.

I sometimes pick the berries for muffins out there. There is nothing like wild maine blueberries. If I have to buy berries, I get Wyman’s Wild Blueberries, they are frozen, but make good pies and muffins, and even work well in yogurt.

I love blackberry jelly, so I hope the black berry vines keep coming. When I first moved up from Oklahoma, my family used to send me packages of blackberry jelly and pinto beans! Now, thank goodness, I can get both of those items here in our market.

As usual when I write about food, I made myself hungry! I am off to get some breakfast–maybe something with blueberries.
