hummingbird moth, feeding August 31, 2006

I was out in the garden yesterday afternoon getting a shot of my pokey bee balm, which isn’t doing well this year, and finally blooming. When I turned a bit to the left, this moth was feeding on the dephinium. Of course I took some shots of it! It was hovering all the while, as you can see by the wings.

Love the color combination in this pic!

I’m amazed you were able to get a nice pic of the humminbird moth - they move pretty quick, don’t they! I haven’t seen any in my garden this summer, mostly they like the butterfly bushes, but they didn’t bloom so well this year. I think I didn’t prune them enough.

Sorry to barrage you with comments, but wordpress hasn’t been allowing me to comment for a few days. Weird, but it was happening to me on other wordpress blogs. Seems to be fixed, whatever it was.

I love hummingbird moths and this is a magnificent photo!
