Nicole, over at Pinch My Salt has tagged me to list five of my favorite foods. Here it goes–
1. Mexican food at Margarita’s in Portland, Maine. We enjoy most things on the menu, but all the different types of enchiladas are our favorites.
2. Yeast bread, in any way, shape or form. I love baking it, and eating it.
3. Best comfort food, southern chicken and dumplings, not the large ones they make up here in the north, but the kind rolled out and cut in small squares, and cooked in the broth. This is a special lunch treat my daughter and I loved to make.
4. My favorite food up here in the north (Maine) is Fish and Chips. But, they have to be made with haddock to be the best. I won’t give a specific place, just make sure that you ask what the fish is when you order. I know that people come to Maine for lobster and clams, but I will stick with my choice.
5. Here is another one you wouldn’t expect up here in Maine. I had some really good southern barbecue the other day at Beal St Barbeque in South Portland, Maine. The smokey aroma hits you when you drive in the lot. I grew up eating Kansas City barbeque, so this Memphis type style was new to me, and I liked it.

so glad you posted these! If all goes well we will be headed for Maine late this month (or early next month) and will try to find some of your choices and try them out
I love baking bread – what a fantastic picture!
