I thought our grandsons wouldn’t like the southwest recipe, but they did. We also used a southwest rub for the turkey, and we all liked that. The recipe for it is simple- garlic powder, chili powder, oregano, cloves, cinnamon, cumin, butter, and honey.
I roasted the squash and potatoes for the first time this year. They were great, but I do wish I had added some onions and maybe something green. I used olive oil to coat the vegetables, them seasoned them with a little garlic, crushed black pepper, and parsley.
Besides the tollhouse pie my daughter brought, we had a southwest pumpkin spice pie. Seasoned with cloves, ginger, and nutmeg, this recipe also called for lots of orange zest and some lime liquor. It was good, but not all that different.
Today, I am going to put the leftover roasted vegetables in the food processor, then add it to the rest of the broth and turkey, to make a soup.
Did any one else try any new recipes this year?
