I just sat still at my end of the tree, and after a bit, the squirrel settled down. He, (or she, I don’t know squirrels that well) eventually came back down the tree trunk to finish the mid morning pine cone snack that I had interrupted.
The tree was a tall one, it now makes a perfect bench, running at least 30 feet along the forest floor. It is a great place to spend some time watching for wildlife, and listening to all the birds in the treetops. Maybe I will see this little squirrel another time, and I don’t mind sharing the bench at all.
