raisinmuffinbread

We finally had some snow yesterday. Not much, just a couple of inches, but the way it came, (off and on, all day) made the roads a mess, so we stayed in. I have been hungry for muffin bread lately, so went online to look for a recipe for it with raisins. I didn’t find that, but decided to add them and cinnamon to this recipe.

By late afternoon I had two loaves on the cooling racks, and the house smelled wonderful! I put one loaf in my best long skinny pan from The Baker’s Store in Vermont, and made the other half of the dough into a round loaf. That loaf is history this morning, my husband finished it off last night. The loaf made in the pan will be toast this morning and maybe tomorrow, if it lasts that long!

sunup

This time of year, in Maine, we don’t get much sun. Eight hours of daylight at the worst of it. Lately though, the sun seems to be making grand entrances like this to make up for the lack of light. I took this shot yesterday, through the trees in the backyard.

moss

I was surprised this week to find so much color in the winter woods. Bright varieties of moss and fungus were everywhere. Here are just a couple of the photos taken last Sunday morning. If anyone knows anything about moss, could you identify the red one for me, please?
