swans

My Oklahoma niece Ashley, and her husband, Richard just got back from a visit to see his family in England. She sent photos this morning, and I am sharing this one, taken in a town called Bakewell in Derbyshire. Pretty, isn’t it?

As you can see, my mind has turned toward gardening, now that the sun is getting brighter. I enjoy growing tame flowers, but my first love will always be the wildflowers spread out so generously over the earth.

snowbasketgimp

This is a basket my father in law made for us. I thought it would look good photographed against like-colored weeds, but had a hard time with the extreme shadows on such a bright day. I used the oilify filter in GIMP to smooth it out.

70mm

I took this around 6:30 on the morning of the 22nd, the same day the sky was so brilliantly blue in the afternoon. You can see my buddies, the crows, are overhead. This is a view of the old wild cherry tree at 70mm. A far view of it can be found next to this one on my Flickr page. Just click on this photo to get there.
