This morning, while I was watering herbs and seedlings in my windowsill garden, I noticed the light hitting the violets on the countertop. Against a shadowy background, the colors seemed to glow. Light passing through the cobalt bottles on the sill added even more color. The top shot is the original, and the bottom is the same, but put through the cartoon filter in the GIMP program. Especially on dark shots, the cartoon filter gives a photograph the look of a woodblock print. I like to use them paper cards and iCards.

Those are just beautiful!

It does look like a woodblock print. How neat! Isn’t it wonderful when light falls on the mundane bits of our lives and transforms them and delights us?

I especially like the look of the postcard. Wow, that’s so creative, Sandy. Good job!

Beautiful flowers and I love the idea of winter as resting for flowers. It’s true for all of nature isn’ it? I’m glad we’re all waking up now.

Sandy,
Thanks for the idea on the modified photo. I have a program I should try that with. I like to make my own cards from photos, but the paper isn’t photo quality so they print more like paintings or such. I think this modified type design would look great on the paper. Love violet too.
