blackbird haiku March 30, 2007

A couple of days ago, I tried to walk down through the woods to the marsh. I thought I might be able to get a good shot of a redwinged blackbird there. I was surprised to find so much snow still in the woods, along with lots of water. This shot was as close as I could get to the flock. Next week, I should be able to get there with no problems.

And yes, they do pierce the air! I can see the streak on the wing. Nice haiku.
Lovely. I really like the sound of blackbirds — but when they are close and in large numbers, it can be overwhelming.
I love the song of red-wing blackbirds too!
I heard my first Red-winged Blackbird today. Another chunk of glacier slipped from my winter heart.
