Yesterday, I went out the bulkhead door on my way to work in the garden. When I was just even with the grass, I noticed spots of color here and there. How could that be? We have only had grass about a week, and already it is full of little flowers?
Last week, I wrote about johnny jump ups. but here are three more. The dandelions, of course, will always be with us. I don’t mind them, sure like them better than weed killer on the lawn!
The white violets are growing in number, along with purple and dog-tooth violets. I leave the white ones where they are, but have made a couple of colonies of the purple varieties so they would show up better.
Henbit, is fairly new to my yard, and something that I have never taken the time to look up. It seems it is a winter annual, a new term for me. It disappears during the summer, but while it is here, the sparrows spend lots of time in the places it grows in the yard. That is okay with me, too.
