I spent part of yesterday in Freeport, Maine with four of my friends. In spite of light rain, the day turned out well. We had lunch at the Broad Arrow Tavern located in the Harraseeket Inn, and later spent a bit of time shopping. We have eaten at the tavern before, and it is always good, but this is the first time we have seen the garden behind the Inn in the early spring.
Everything was so beautifully groomed, and the bulbs were at their best. We noticed lots of soft blue forget-me-nots growing in the borders. Just lovely! One of the women I was with told me that she in her sister had planted forge-me-nots at her home in remembrance of their mother. I thought that was such a great idea.
If you happen to be shopping in Freeport, the inn is about two blocks the hill from LL Beans, on the other side up the street. The garden is located below the building, in the back. To get to it, follow the parking signs.
