bluet

Both of these shots were taken while the garden was going through a dry spell. I waited for the butterfly to find a better looking flower, but he stuck with that one. Must have have the color coordination. The bluet was so tiny that I had trouble focusing on it. Finally realized that I have to look through the top of my glasses when I am doing something like this!

We are getting rain everyday now. Lots of it. By the time I am able to get out to weed and deadhead the garden, it is going to be a mess. I have had time to stand at the window this week, though, because of the rain, and plan what I need to move. My main idea was to keep the garden low to the ground, but along the way, I have added a few of the wrong plants to it. Next spring, I need to put it back into the shape I had in my mind to begin with. Not that I don’t love tall plants, but they just don’t fit in my space well.

My hummingbird feeder is in the garden. Although it is raining, I have two hummers there now. They don’t seem bothered by the moisture, nor do the goldfinches who are making a big show of landing on the top of the coreopsis, then riding the stem to the ground. Since they are yellow, you have to look close to see why the stems are flying up and down.

Whenever the rain stops, I will have lots of work to do outside, but for now, I am enjoying life in the garden from the window.
