my first eight ball zucchini August 3, 2007

I am growing a new type of zucchini this summer called Eight Ball. This is the first one so far, and I think that I should have picked it a little sooner. The seed came from Pinetree Garden Seeds, a company located here in Maine. Because this one grew so well, I will try a cream colored zucchini from the same catalog called Cue Ball next season.
The morning glories are from a 10 cent packet of seeds. This is the third color to bloom. The flowers are nice, but the vines are kind of stringy. I can’t complain, considering the cost. You can guess where I bought them!

That’s a beautifully composed photo. The morning glory is nice- even if it is stringy! I would have guessed that zuccini was a little pumpkin.
That is a zuch? Oh my gosh; did you cook it up yet? Let me know what it is like, please. I grew something similar one summer but it had crossed with a pumpkin, came up volunteer and turned slightly orange. Very pretty photo; I really like the ten cent MG.
That is an interesting-looking zucchini … will cue ball be bigger or smaller?
The morning glory flowers are pretty … I like this shade of blue with the darker veining. We are definitely blue fans!
Love your site – visit often. This new photo is amazing!

That’s a cool zucchini, Sandy. And I love your morning glories.
I have seen these on another blog do they taste any diferent or is just the shape that is different?
It kinda looks like an 8-ball, doesn’t it? But it sure looks like the right size for just one or two people. Does it taste the same as other zucchinis?
I cooked the zucchini last night. It was good, tastes like the other kind, but seems a little more firm. The catalog said they are good stuffed, so that is how I am going to try them next.
I think the Cue Ball is about the same size, kate. They are bush plants though, not vine, so take up more room.
Cute Zuc! I just picked about 7 of the regular ones today.
A lovely presentation of your zucchini! I am a big fan of Morning glory and grow several different ones.

what a dear picture. It could be aptly named a ‘cannon’ ball, too.
When do ou pick these? (Size)
