The last two days have been wet and gray. We had lots of wind yesterday, so many of the trees in our yard are bare of leaves, including the one above. This shot was taken on Monday, a sunny day with a temperature of 80 degrees. That leaf is not falling. Look closely and you can see a spiderweb thread holding it in place. I noticed it because it was spinning round and round. The thread eventually broke, but I had enough time to go indoors and get my camera. I should have used my Coolpix and made a short movie!

In the last ten years, many clumps of birch trees have grown up in the field across the road. What an addition to the neighborhood! They are pretty in all seasons, and a great place for birds, turkeys, and other wildlife to gather. This shot was taken against the sky from beneath one of the trees.
