chokecherryhaiga

It is cloudy this afternoon, but the day started with a splash of color. I was in the middle of my cereal when I looked out the window, saw the sky, and dashed out to take a couple shots. I have had this haiku written a couple of weeks and have been waiting to get a good shot of the tree.

People around here don’t seem to like choke cherry trees very much, but I do. Besides providing food for the birds in the summer and some airy flowers, they look wonderful under the snow, and wearing nothing at all!

It’s a beautiful tree, silohuetted on a beautiful sky. I’m glad you left your cereal to capture quite a stunning sunrise!

This was a shot worth waiting for, Sandy. Beautiful piece.

I might be motivated to get up that early if I knew the sky would always look like that. Great photo. And yes, the choke cherry is a highly underestimated tree. Hope you had a great holiday.

I was going to add that choke cherry trees do not get that large around here. My Mom used to make syrup from the fruit which is amazingly yummy. I don’t know if that is the same bush or not.
