my favorite chickadee shot this year December 28, 2007

I have to admit it, I do have favorites. This little bit of fluff is one of mine. What other bird is so bouncy and cheerful? And nosy, too, if the truth be known. Other birds may watch me as I walk through the woods, but a pack of chickadees will come and see what I am doing, and greet me with endless chickadeeing and flying about.
This little guy was at the feeder one cold morning a few weeks ago. He took time out from gathering seeds to pose nicely very near my camera. Cute isn’t he? Check here for more information on the black capped chickadee.

Awesome photo Ruth- you should be proud! They are such happy, sociable little balls of energy.
Ooops… I meant Sandy… sorry…
He is beautiful! We were wandering in one of my favorite chickadee retreats - Elizabeth Morton Wildlife Refuge out on Long Island today. What a delight to feel those tiny feet curl around a finge as the snatch up sunflower seeds.
Oh my gosh, how adorable. I’ve never seen one in real life.
This is such a cute photograph and will make me look more closely at Chickadees. I love their name … it suits them.
I always love how you get up close to your subjects! The candy canes were so colorful, but this little fella is just a delight.
I’m with you on this one, Sandy–there is no more endearing wild bird than the chickadee. They’re like sunflowers–you can’t help but smile when you see one. We feed the birds yearround but this is the time of year we see the most of them, and the ‘deedees’ escort me as I fill feeders. Lovely shot!
what a lovely photo. Chickadees are very like our great tits or coal tits, which are also very sociable, endearing birds.
It’s probably the best photo of a Chickadee I’ve seen in a while. Those little sweeties…
coal tits we call them and along with the robins and the long-tailed tits and a few others, they come regulary to the bird-feeder on the rose bush outside my window, but they rarely stay still long enough to photograph.
