Lovely photo! And a nice reminder of the power in a seed. I have several little oak trees growing, from acorns overwintered inside some bags of oak leaves gathered in the fall. When I saw the sprouting acorns the next spring, I potted them up. Hope to find a spot to plant them this year!
Sherry and Connie, here it is maple trees and black locust sprouting everywhere. I wish we had an oak close to the house. The acorns in the photo came from the woods. A jay came and got them as soon as I was done taking photos.
I can just hear those puzzled jays! The wonderful sound of early spring. Thanks for participating!
This has to be one of my absolute favourites of your haikus! Now if we just HAD some spring signs (we’re getting the ice storm now….)
Perfect visuals, fun and lovely haiku.
Dear Sandi,
Great haiku! Very true too! I remove many tiny oaks from the flower beds each summer.

Love that — there are so many oaks in my beds from the Steller’s Jays. Too funny!

Oh I love this one!! The photo is perfect. I can see that jay in my mind with his head cocked, wondering what happened! What great poetry.
What fun! (When I first read it, I read “cash,” which made it even more fun when I finally got it!)

I just love this haiku. I have seen perplexed Jays and squirrels when they come back for a goody and it is growing. Ha.
