bird watching March 31, 2008

A pair of cardinals have been in my backyard all morning. I have tried several times to sneak out and get a closer shot, but they fly away when the door opens. This shot was taken standing in my bathtub. We don’t have that many cardinals in this area, so I still get excited when I get a chance to take a photo of them. The sky is getting dark, we are supposed to have rain this afternoon, so it looks like I won’t get any more bright photos today. A good thing really, I am trying to cut out a quilt, but have spent more time at the window than the cutting table.

How pretty! We don’t have them in the UK. I can’t quite tell fromm your picture if that is a male, but the picture I have just seen courtesy of google shows a male with bueatiful red plummage!
) Do becareful, gettin gin and out of the bathtub!
I’m not surprised you can’t keep away fro the window.
lovely photo
I, too, love cardinals. We had a lot of them in our backyard when we lived in Mississippi. They aren’t attracted to our place in Alabama. Maybe I need some berry bushes. Are you a quilter? I got hooked on quilting about 25 years ago but haven’t done much lately. I have one started that I haven’t worked on in about 6 months. Never enough time.
Although we do (apparently) have cardinals in our area, I’ve never had any to our feeders. We live in an area of fairly high traffic, though, and that could explain it. Your photo is great!
I would love to see your quilt when it’s finished
I wish we had cardinals here! I find it so hard to photograph birds unless I can actually sit still in the yard for a long time until they get used to me and come back in the yard. And how often do I have time to do that
We had a lovely house finch at the feeder today, but as soon as I slid open the door to get a photo he flew away.
Lovely photo. I love cardinals too and I’m always trying to get good shots of them.
I love Cardinals — especially the females! Great pic!
Pam, I will post a shot of the quilt when it is done, but it might take a while!
Cardinals are rare up here, but we do see the occasional pair. Yesterday, we were walking in Bar Harbor and I heard that familiar, cheer, cheer, cheer, purty, purty, purty, but I couldn’t see him.
Foggy day here today with occasional rain showers.
Oh I would be at that window too . . . camera ready! Such a peaceful view.
Happy Springtime to you!
That’s a great photo!
I would love to see cardinals, they are such striking looking birds…
