The photos from my Nikon d200 are so large that I have to keep the number stored in my iPhoto under 300 or it runs really slow. While I was getting ready to save 150 of this month’s shots on a CD, I decided to gather some of the bird photos and make them into one post. The individual photos do not click open.
April is a great for photographing birds since the trees are still bare of leaves up here in Maine. Lots of spring birds have arrived, and even more are passing through. All of these shots were taken in the yard.
Sisah, here are the names: top row, American Robin, Northern Flicker, European Starling, second row, White Throated Sparrow, Chickadee, Chipping Sparrow, third row, Northern Mockingbird, Mourning Dove, and another shot of a mockingbird.

Lovely bird pictures - you have such variety.
I have left an award thing on my blog for you if you care to take a look
Warm regards

Great shots…and what a great way to put them together.
What a lovely montage!
Love all of your bird photos!!
Beautiful birds!
Excellent photos but I don´t know half of them…because some are not native…could you name them?
Sisah from Nothern Germany
We have most of the same birds here, except for the Mockingbird–at least I’ve never see it here.
Are you using an older version of iPhoto, Sandy? I have as many as 1500 photos in any one library of iPhoto at a time (I’m on the newest version) and it handles them fine. Mind you, I’m not shooting or saving in RAW, so maybe that’s the difference?
Bravo, Sandy! There are a few I’m still longing for… You take excellent bird photos. Makes me want to trade in my camera for that Nikon!
lovely photos, nice to see the names too, as someone living in the Uk I don’t see most of these birds (apart from the European starling (and they’re declining here quite drastically)).
I’m delighted to happen upon this bird collage in the OSI ‘feed’ as I’m catching up on Week 9 OSI posts. Memory has been an issue for me lately with my laptop and I’ve moved LOTS of photos from my hard drive to DVDs and an external hard drive. Thanks for providing the names to help me out. These are wonderful captures ;–)
Hugs and blessings,
