violets
Common blue and sweet white violets growing in the lawn. We still have a few, and also some bird’s foot violets here and there, but we lost most to the first mowing of the season. I can’t imagine why anyone would want a lawn that is just plain grass.

PS What is a plain grass lawn? ;)

I’m with you! Sometimes those first blooms are hard to mow. The violets are darling. :)

We have violets growing in our lawn as well. They are so pretty. Love your photo!

Our lawn violets are all blue with yellow faces. I love your white ones.

“Here here!” regarding the plain grass :) I love violets. I also have clover in my lawn, which is wonderful. It stays green far longer than the grass does without rain.

So pretty, you’ve captured the daintiness of these flowers perfectly.

I love violets. I also love lawn daisies. Heck, even dandelions work for me.

I so agree!

The violets look so pretty springing up in the grass. They break up the unrelenting green of the lawn. Daisies too…

I so agree as well. The motto should be: Flowers abound!

Each year I have less and less lawn and a larger perennial border. In a few more years, I won’t even need the lawn mower!

Beautiful picture. I love the one purple violet amid all the white ones.
