The first day of summer has arrived. So far this year, we have only had about three really warm days here in Maine, but that is the way it goes some years. I am not complaining, since my perfect day is around 76ยบ, with a light breeze, and puffy white clouds in a blue sky. Even with the cool weather, the wildflowers are out in full force in the field behind my house. The shot above was taken at the edge of the hayfield. The yellow flower growing in the hay is called rough-fruited cinquefoil. It doesn’t have a very good reputation, but it is pretty, with those heart shaped petals. Below is a close up of the blossom.

Charming!
Those look very pretty and summery!!! Happy first day of summer!!!
Happy first day of summer! Great pictures!
Love that soft, butter yellow — I believe we have those in NS as well.
I love the flowers of cinquefoil – this one has a beautiful colour! Happy summer to you and may your temperatures not soar too high.
This is so lovely; delicate and fragile. Thanks for sharing. G
So wonderful, so true and so beautifully said. Lovely words and photo.
Beautiful shots, Sandy. I love the heart shaped petals of the cinquefoil. Ours hasn’t even started here yet. it’s been cooler than normal here in Wis. too but it has warmed up nicely this week.
Your close-up makes the flower look like it has a face and arms that are waving and dancing in the field!
