The One Single Impression prompt this week is melody. Like the first frost, and  other seasonal happenings we take note of, this is an important marker in the natural year. The chickadee’s spring song represents to me, turning the corner on winter. It never fails to cheer me during the dark season.

They are absolutely the most cheerful, spirit-raising birds. Nice job capturing their essence!

What a lovely shot of the bird Sandy. As ever – I enjoy your haiku and find it speaks straight to the heart.

I haven’t heard a chickadee in a long while. This little fellow is a beauty as is your haiku!

One of my favorite songs! Perfect.

What a wonderful poem and image… I love the idea of a “Spring song.” Makes me happy just thinking about it.

Beautiful, Sandy! I like the idea that thee chickadee’s songs can gently send away the spirit of winter!

8. Pam - June 22, 2008

I hadn’t remembered the chickadee’s song until I read this. Brought back good memories. Thanks.

Very, very nice Sandy!

We still see chickadees at the feeders — they’re year round visitors and always welcome. Your poem is lovely.

…sweet. I never grow tired of watching and listening to birds…especially when you begin to have a relationship with them…you know…tossing the perfect breakfast out onto the deck! Your haiku sings.

Chickadees are such cute creatures, they always bring smiles along.

Ohmigosh! Our haiku are similarly based. The warming temperatures and ensuing bird songs. I don’t read others’ posts before I write so it always surprises me to find threads of thought throughout! Enjoyed your chickadees!

Aren’t chickadees cute? Love your haiku welcoming Spring! :)

Beautiful haiku and photo. I love the song of the chickadees, especially on a cold winter day out in the woods, although we do have them all year round here.

Your Haiku says it perfectly.
I love the little chickadee!
I’m glad he brings you a melody!
Happy spring! Happy summertime!
Happy OSI!

You have the most beautiuful blog and so interesting. And I have the nerve to write a garden blog! What was I thinking? I did win a Haiku contest once though…USA Today online. They sent me a long sleeve T shirt with USA Today on the front. LOL…..
You have such a way with color. I do love orange and purple together. Right now, I am loving my gold and purple Lantana bed. I planted all these little violas underneath and they are peeking out everywhere underneath with thier pretty little faces in purple and yellow.
I am putting you in my blog folder so I will remember to come back. There are so many blogs on gardening but yours stands out to me.
