I took this shot last week but had no idea what it was. The other night, I was looking through the posts on Garden Voices, when I came across a post by Tangled Branches giving me the answer. Thanks to Garden Voices for being there, and thanks to Tangled Branches for naming this beetle. This photo is actually two pieces of the same large photo cut and layered together. The beetle in real life is even brighter than this when the sun hits it.

From looking at my guides, and online, I think this is a blue dasher, but am not sure. If anyone knows, please let me know. A large patch of marjoram in my neighbor’s yard seems to be drawing lots of butterflies, bees, and dragonflies. Has anyone noticed dragonflies near a swimming pool? We have been wondering if that is another reason for so many dragonflies in her yard. I got shots of a bluet, meadowhawk, widow skimmer, and this one in about three minutes.

Last week, when we were getting rain and muggy air almost everyday, my friends and neighbors, Carolyn and Clayton, and family, were camped up above Greenville, at Frost Pond. She sent me these photos this morning, and I want to share them, as the are what Maine is about. They caught fish and had a good time, and, it looks like she enjoyed her camera, too. All three shots were taken from her camping spot.

My husband and I were up in the woods, too, but in New Hampshire, and then into Maine at Errol. We saw a moose just below Rangeley, but it was way too dark to get a shot of it.

The prompt this week for One Single Impression is faces. I was about this old when I got separated from my family at the state fair. My mom stayed with the other kids, and my dad found me. You know, I still don’t like large crowds or fairs.
