June was a wet and foggy month here in Maine. This morning, I counted the days we had rain in my journal, (yes, I start with a weather report) and discovered we had 13 days with rain, and that doesn’t count the days we had fog in the early morning. Needless to say, I took lots of photos under those conditions. The shot above is white campion or evening lychnis. Lots of it is showing up in the field in the last few years.
catchfly
This is catchfly, a bright pink wildflower that I originally got in a seed mix. It is messy in the garden, but looks wonderful out in the grassy field.
muskmallow
Musk mallow came to me as a gift from a gardener friend. It is pretty in the garden, but again, I think it looks much better growing wild. A good thing too, because it hopped out of the garden the first year I had it. I am thinking that my interests are definitely turning toward wild gardening.

I had to laugh when I read your post and how you counted the days of rain. I did that too when I lived in Maine. It made me feel I had some kind of control over the weather, or at least, it validated my complaining! Here in AZ we have endless days of sunshine, but once the Monsoon comes the storms become enjoyable! Now I love rain because I know it won’t last too long! The photos of the campion and muskmallow remind me so of Maine. I have a black and white photos of each taken by my husband when we lived in Presque Isle hanging on the wall in my desert home! Beautiful photography!

these are wonderful photos, beautiful effects of light and shade on the flowers and on the water droplets.

13 days of rain is horrid, poor you.
I dont keep track of the weather – I might depress myself.
However it does make for lovely photographs. Particularly the white campion.

I love the wildflowers! With all that rain it must be quite lush in the fields and gardens.

It’s great that you are moving more into wild gardening – you are in a perfect spot to do so. I love the Catchfly – the individual flower petals are so cool, as is the colour.

The photograph of the Campion is beautiful. I just planted one in my garden this year.

I didn’t realise you had so much rain in June!

Gorgeous shots, Sandy. I especially like the rain/dew on the flowers, I think it really adds something to the shot.

Your photographs of flowers are exquisite, I love the soft backgrounds and the way you capture their beauty. Thanks for sharing! Roxanne

I am very fond of the wildflowers, as well…they are a hardy lot and don’t need too much pampering.
Here’s hoping the sun shines for you soon!

Ah, so that’s what it is — white campion or evening lychnis.

I remember well my first gardening year when I was so excited to see something growing….I nurtured this particular plant for weeks until finally it bloomed and I was so disappointed to find out it was a weed! I still do think it’s pretty.
