The bees have been working hard this summer. Here are some of the shots of them I have taken around the garden so far this season. Both the speedwell and liatris are covered with bees. I have noticed a lot more bees and butterflies on the burgundy blanketflower than on the more common yellow one. The herbs are just beginning to bloom, so will have more photos in a day or two.

Much thanks to Juliet from Crafty Green Poet for the brillanteblog award. I am not going to pick names-I have way too many talented blgger friends.

My liatris is not blooming yet, but the thyme is absolutely covered with bees! The daisies seem to attract a lot, as well.
I love these photos! I’ve been trying to “shoot the bees” I don’t know how many times, and no success. They’re just too fast for me. All I manage to capture so far is a black and yellow blur.
I am with Amy on that one!
Lovely pics Sandy

How nice of them to pose for you!
They certainly are, um, busy bees!
Very cool. I actually saw a hornet or wasp of some sort grazing on cabbage bugs the other day. No macro lens for the new camera yet, but I did buy him a drink.
beautiful photos of beautiful bees, we’ve been having a lot around this year too, which is very heartening given they’re struggling in so many places. I’m probably going to post a bee photo today, in which case I’ll link to these photos if that’s okay?
Love, love, love bees. My front yard is full of lavender and rosemary (keeps the deer at bay) and always buzzing with bees. I often wonder who has the lavender and rosemary flavored honey these bees are making and shouldn’t I get a discount on it?
Lovely lovely photos of bees! Perhaps you know of the children’s book, “The Turned-Into’s” by Elizabeth Gordon (with wonderful art deco illustrations by Janet Laura Scott)? I inherited a copy from my mother, who had it as a child circa 1920. The book has the same feeling of garden magic as your blog.
Me again - I’ve given you a blog award, come over to my blog to find out more!
Came to look via Crafty Green Poet, lovely blog. Good bee pictures, the liatris is always popular with them, isn’t it? I also appreciated the info about the Queen Anne’s lace; I’m not very good on identifying the different umbelliferous plants, but I’d noticed that little red spot, so that’s a positive ID!
You have lots of bees! The veronica? is so pretty, graceful curvey stems.
