This very nice bird perch outside my kitchen window was until last Friday afternoon, the prettiest maple in our yard. It was always the last to have full color, but had the most glorious shades of orange every year. The maple is now stretched across the back yard, very close to the house. High wind came along with the heavy rain, and did the most damage. Since the storm that brought this beauty down, the birds seem to enjoy gathering there. I have missed so many good bird shots in the past few days, I have taken to leaving my camera on the kitchen table. This shot was taken through the window screen and I kind of like the soft look I got.
Although I will miss this tree, we actually made out lots better than most in the severe storm that came through on Friday. A close town, Gorham, not only lost power, but had lines and trees down all over town. Needless to say, utility companies and tree removal people are busy here this week. Since the storm we have had rain every day, so cleanup is slow. I spent the morning trying to get the limbs picked up in the yard so that it can be mowed after the tree goes. Did any one else experience this violent wind storm?
I’m so sorry about your tree, but glad that you’re safe. Nova Scotia is about to be visited by tropical storm Cristobal which will touch down tomorrow, they say. I’ll let you know how windy/rainy it gets here.
Yes, Friday brought heavy winds through here too. Sorry about the tree.
So sorry about your beautiful tree!
We had a bit of a storm on Friday, but only the north end of it. Seems you got the brunt.
I was reading back over your posts and it seems we both had a bee post this past week.
Good luck with the clean up. Firewood, perhaps?
Our storm came two weeks ago when we had our tree lean against the house. Our power was out three days and we keep seeing more and more plants that were effected, especially vines. No rain…. but lots of fires and smoke north of us. I am sorry about your tree… for us it is like losing a family member.
I’m glad you made it through unhurt by the storm!
The little sparrows are adorable!
Losing a tree is tough. I’m sorry to hear about that storm. I’m so enjoying the wild flower photos.
I’m sorry about your beautiful maple, Sandy. But I do like the dreamy quality of that photo.
We’ve been having trouble with our satellite internet service so I’ve not been able to post much. We missed this storm, but last night we had terrible t-storms with continuous lightning. Kept me and the cats awake all night long.
