I plant bachelor buttons every year, but the deer usually eat them as soon as they start blooming. We haven’t had many deer around this year so far. Wouldn’t you know, I saw some tracks behind the garden today. I thought I’d better post photos while I still had flowers!

Love the blue ones best. I wonder which ones the dear like best?
:)

So do I, but then Blue is my favorite color in everything. My guess is that they don’t care what color their “flower salad” is!

Sandy, I love the Bachelor’s Buttons. Mine have all gone to seed, but they will come again next year.~~Dee

I love these too, especially the blue. One summer my parents gave my sister and I free reign in an area once used for veggies. We spent our allowance on seeds and covered the whole area with flowers. One of those was bachelor buttons – the first time I grew them.

I am a long time bachelor button fan….since I planted a row in my vegetable garden many years ago. They self seeded and spread all over the garden. I grow a dwarf blue variety now, which I really like. It doesn’t get too tall and fall over like some do.

I love your bachelor buttons, every color. They are such pretty little wildflowers. I hope the deer don’t get them all.

Love Bachelor Buttons. Thanks for sharing them before the deer discovered them.

One of my very favorite flowers and the color also. Grew up in the Corn Belt of Illinois and we called them cornflowers.
A neighbor had a special one appear in her vegetable garden last year but my saved seed did not germinate. The flowers were noticeably larger and the plant was shorter. Quite a gem.

Loved you blog and even though my gardening is mostly in containers now, still love the tales which garden bloggers share.

Many thanks from Pladdpatty :-)
