So pretty. That yellow and the purple behind it. Meadows are such special places.

Gah! Say it ain’t so! ::sniff:: Goldenrod does mean that summer has turned the corner and is a mostly Aug/Sept plant here in Nova Scotia. It just seems like yesterday that we were all oo’ing and ah’ing over those first, tentative buds and blooms. Sigh.

Oh, I know it, Nancy. Summers are getting shorter and shorter as I get older.

Liza, the meadow is what I usually call the field, but I needed two syllables for that line!

4. Lynne at Hasty Brook - July 23, 2008

I haven’t seen any goldenrod here yet but I’m sure it’s soon to bloom. Even though it’s tough for folks with hayfever I love the smell of it.

Indeed! Summers get shorter. Summers come later. Enough to make a grown woman cry, I think. Your haiku and photograph are absolutely beautiful! Absolutely!

6. Deborah Godin - July 23, 2008

Makes me want to dig in my heels, or drag my feet like the lyrics of “The Circle Game” to slow summer down. Beautiful words and design!

Ah-choo! …but lovely all the same ;–)
Hugs and blessings,
