This is a tiny tree frog sound asleep under a raspberry leaf. When I first saw it, I thought I was looking at some sort of beetle, it was that small, not much more than a half inch. Looking closer, I saw that it was a frog, and it was sleeping in a position, legs pulled up, hands (do they have hands?) tucked under, that I have seen my grandsons use when they were babies.

I just had to move the leaf for a better shot, and that woke the little guy up. He didn’t move when I snapped the second photo. Guess this is not that unusual. I googled sleeping frogs and found lots of other shots like this. He was still on the leaf when I left, I wonder if he got back to sleep?

Oh, my, is that adorable or what?! Fantastic shot with the light on this little one’s face.

Cute froggie! My pond frogs are green and I have three of them inhabiting the pond. They are so cute and not at all afraid of me when I venture near them. BTW, thanks for the recipe for the squash – it’s wonderful! With all the squash coming out of my garden, I may have to open a restaurant. Squash King! We make it your way. “-)

Awww. He did go back to sleep, you know. I woke one once and held it. Put it back and he drifted into slumber again.

Very nice photos, Sandy.

The leaf makes a great hiding place/bed for a frog. The frog is very attractive, with nicely marked etchings on it’s back. It should help eliminate some garden pests, of the smaller type.

Oh I love frogs. These are such great shots, Sandy.

Looks like your moving the leaf didn’t disturb him all that much, and he went right back to sleep. Well, that’s what happens when you’re up all night “spooling” (making frog song).

How fun to see this little sleepy frog. Isn’t the Internet a wonderful tool for finding information quickly and easily? Wonderful macros …
