Here are a couple of trees from my photo files done up with the emboss filter in GIMP. The one with the blue background was shot looking straight up into the sky. The other was just a piece out of a sunrise shot. I love the way trees look in winter, and also like playing around with different textures.
Winter trees are beautiful against any sky — strangely, that’s my post today as well, including a poem about it.
I love this time of year for all the striking contrasts of the trees against the multi hued skies!
The trees do have a stark beauty against the sky at this time of the year!

Yes, there is much beauty even in November. It’s fun to see what you have up your photo sleeves! I like all the angles of the branches.

How beautiful these are. In the southwest our leaves are just starting to drop.
You can also make a copy layer and apply the emboss filter then go back to the first layer and merge down. It makes a nice effect also.
