We were coming home on the turnpike (Maine only has one) late yesterday afternoon when we unexpectedly drove into this colorful sunset. I had my Nikon Coolpix 4300 in my bag, so quickly whipped it out and started shooting. The Coolpix comes with a variety of scene settings. I started with landscape, and tried night landscape somewhere along the way, and finally ended with sunset. iPhoto tells all the shooting info for my other camera, so I thought I would be able to tell which setting I had used in each shot when I looked at them. It doesn’t, just lists the basic stuff with the 4300. I am not too happy with the sunset setting, and don’t often use it. After the pink stage of the sunset, I put my camera away. In about five minutes, I had it back out. For those who have never been to Maine, this is what the southern end of the pike looks like. And yes, we still have to watch for deer and moose down here, especially this time of day.

I’m always amazed at how a sunset can change so drastically in a matter of moments. These are lovely.
You captured some lovely sunset photos!
That is so beautiful.~~Dee
So pretty!!
I love your sunset photos! Oh yes, we have to watch for deer at this time of day, too. Especially at that time of day when it’s hard to see them.
Very dramatic skies! And what a nice kept highway, too.
Wow! So beautifil! Thank you for these shots, it’s great you was able to capture it!
I have ALWAYS yearned to travel to Maine. It sounds idyllic to me. You know, on my camera, I don’t know anything but how to point and shoot. None of the settings have been used! Isn’t that awful?

Lots of people haven’t, Brenda. Just try one at a time, and see if you can tell a difference. I use close up the most, after landscape.
Beautiful sunsets and aren’t we fortunate here that bill boards are banned so we can enjoy our breathtaking landscapes! Since taking the photography class I’ve been using more of the modes in the camera, although I will default to AUTO if I really want to make sure I get the shot. Guess I’m just chicken.
What a beautiful sight! From the car, no doubt. Lucky morning for you.
The same to you sweet friend. Have a wonderful holiday season.
What a glorious sunset view on this drive ;–)
Hugs and blessings,
