We have our power back from the Thursday night into Friday ice storm. Living along the coast, we didn’t see the worst of it, so I am not going to complain. I know lots of folks are still cold. Here are a few shots from the storm. The first one was taken on Rt 1 in Scarborough, the rest around our house. The sunset was lovely last night. I crawled out from under my blankets to shoot it.

Glad you are okay. I thought of you a lot as I watched photos of the ice and the aftermath. Definitely something I can’t relate to — I’ve lived in snow country but we never experienced ice storms.

Your photos are beautiful. Especially that cleansing sunset. Stay warm!

Sandy, these are gorgeous and yet brrrr-inducing. A good time to be inside looking out with a very long zoom lens ;-)

Sandy .. glad to hear you aren’t too badly off .. it reminded me of our 1998 ice storm that was horrendous.
Your pictures are great ! .. love the colour of that sky : )
We are in for some scary stuff ourselves .. warming up and raining tomorrow THEN freezing Tuesday .. not a good combination to say the least !

Sandy, you’ve been on my mind. I was wondering how you were faring out there. I’m sorry you lost power too. What do you do for heat? I hope it was not too awful. Your ice storm sounded what my son calls: epic.

Here we had a blizzard and the windchill was minus 30. Right now it has calmed down some. I just filled our bird feeders up again. We have about 6-7 inches of dry snow. Winter of the Arctic variety.

PS: I enjoyed these photos; it really brings it all in perspective.

Wow. These photos are amazing! I’m glad you are ok, being closer to the coast. I went to H.S. in Cape Elizabeth. I married a guy from Rockland. We now live in VA. I don’t think I’ve been to your blog before…hmm. I’ll definitely have to come back. Take Care! Jan/ThanksFor2Day

Gorgeous shots! I love the gentle crystal chandelier sound the ice makes in the wind – but not the groan and pop of whole limbs coming down

I’m glad you’re safe and sound! We had an ice storm last weekend. The power stayed on for our area (others weren’t so lucky) but if was pretty much impossible to leave the house. These storms do give opportunities for great photos though!

Awesome! Looks like NC when we have our ice storms. It can be an awful mess.

I love these photos. I wonder if the squirel thought he was on a ice rink. lol.

Love the photo of the bare branches against the sunset. I’ve been scouting for shots bare branches. I am fascinated how the landscape changes from the broad strokes of summer to the outlines of winter when trees are veiny skeletons against the sky.

I love the photos! To bad about the ice storm though,…i feel so bad for them. We don’t have ice storms where i live. I can’t imagine what it’s like going through something like this.
