Part of the back field has a stand of tall grass. Just in the last week or so, the color has changed to this beautiful shade. It is over three feet tall, and makes a soft, swishing sound in the wind.
One of my paths goes right through it, and I often see damsel and dragon flies perched there.
And look what is here. Goldenrod comes right before school shopping, doesn’t it?

Oh! How you are able to catch a photo of those fleeting dragonflies. When I see one, I am so frozen, by the time I move to get my camera, they are gone.
Absolutely not! It is not nearly the end of summer. I’m sure those dry grasses aren’t a signal for fall. I refuse to believe it…
love that first picture. i can easily imagine its sound. you make capturing a dragonfly/ damselfly look easy. and the goldenrod is so rich in color. i still can’t believe it’s almost time for kids to go back to school, sigh. at least we’ve already done some school shopping. have a great night.
Summer this year has been fleeting, hasn’t it! I like the golden colors of the tall grass, but here it also signals fire season. Haven’t seen Goldenrod blooming here yet.
Our summer is just breaking its heat and we are getting real summer now. Your fall yet to look forward to. You have captured that color and feel so well.
All three of these photos are outstanding. And, outstanding in your field!
Ooooh I like these. Such beauty. I’m wishing I lived up in your region of the world. Carol
Watch out for ‘em darning needles, they’ll sew your lips s… oof.
