Last Friday night, we had rain and snow.
When I looked out in the morning I saw these tracks.
Something spent time under our porch, during the night.
I am guessing raccoon, what do you think?
These tracks were about an inch and half wide and long. Badgers are bigger than that, aren’t they? I will bet it was a skunk. If so, it didn’t leave an odor behind.
Yes, badgers are larger. I see that you have minks around. They have 4 toes, but also a “thumb” that will sometimes register, and it probably would in new snow. That would be my bet.
To answer about the minks and otters. I know we have minks, and ermine here. There used to be a mink farm close by.
Thanks so much Jomegat. This blog has taken on a life of its own since I left it. I can’t delete it, and it gets of daily visits. I have decided to post nature and gardening posts here again, but not so many. My garden is much smaller now, and I am not in the woods so much.
I subscribed to it a long time ago, so whenever I read my subscriptions, I see if you’ve posted anything. I used to visit my “regular” blogs every day before that.
Are you sure you can’t delete it? (Not that I want you to). When I set mine up, I remember reading that you could.
They look like half suns with accompanying rays but I don’t know which animal would have created them!
If it was is was a very tiny racoon. They usually have larger palm pads.
What else has toes like that?
Do you have minks or otters nearby?
Perfect prints in the snow…love it…could not help you though with what visitor you had here
The conditions were just perfect. In fact, I didn’t want to clean them up, but finally did, but only after a photo shoot.
Do you have otters in your area? They have 5 toes as do skunks, badgers and fishers.

I don’t know, but i love it!
Hey Becky, how are you doing?
I think those were left by an opossum. I’m almost certain of it.

I was taken the the look of the tracks, too. The snow after heavy rain, was perfect for imprints.
Hi Sandy
I cannot really help with the tracks. I was surprised to see you pop back up I am glad I left Gardenpath on my blogroll.
Regards
Guy
Did you read what I wrote about the blog above? I had it all tucked away, and it was hosting itself, so what the heck, I love nature best. I am back.
definitely could be a racoon!
I am glad I got a shot of the photos. They were so neat!
Totally wonderful “hand” print!
Isn’t it?
